The National Parks and equivalent reserves of Costa Rica protect the nation's most outstanding natural and cultural heritage. Although Costa Rica is a small country, it has over a 5% of the world's biodiversity. Exquisite wild lands offer protection to most of 208 species of mammals, 850 of birds, 220 of reptiles and 132 of amphibians that have been recorded in the country as well as to over 9.000 species of vascular plants that have been identified to date.
This system of National Parks and Reserves protects an area equivalent to over 25% of the country, making Costa Rica the largest National Park System on Earth, percentage wise. Normally only a 3% of a Nation's territory is dedicated to National Parks. This remarkable fact encourages international scientists, naturalist, and eco-tourists to study and admire the exuberant tropical flora and fauna of Costa Rica.
Valle Dorado having all this in mind opens the opportunity to visit part of this great National Park System, operating tours that will allow the visitor to view this great diversity of ecosystems. We offer services that will allow the visitor to experience and enjoy: the active volcanoes, the cloud forest, the transitional forest and the humid and dense tropical forest, all with a great variety of flora and fauna.
