What to Bring
What should I bring? What can I leave home? Am I really going to need this? This may be some of the questions every tourist asks himself while packing. When we are going somewhere we don’t know it’s difficult to decide what to bring. Well, here are some recommendations Valle Dorado thinks you may find useful:
Prepare for a temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit (approx. 12 to 33 degrees Celsius). Costa Rica’s tropical weather has sudden temperature changes, so you should consider bringing both fresh and warm clothing. Keep in mind there are a lot of bugs in the mountains as well as on the beach. Remember personal hygiene products.
We hope the next checklist can help you out:
• Hiking shoes
• Sandals, crocks, flip flops
• Jacket and Sweater
• Camera (don’t forget batteries)
• Sunglasses
• Sun block
• Bug repellant
• Bathing suit
• Rain jacket
• Hat or cap
• Binoculars
• Extra dry clothing to wear after tours
• Personal medication
• Hygiene products
• Small pack to use during tours
Entry requirements
Citizens of the United States, Canada and most Latin American and European countries don’t have any entry requirements to Costa Rica. With just a valid and updated passport/ID they may stay in Costa Rica for a maximum of 90 days.
No visa is required for travelers from the United States, Canada and most Latin American and European countries. Citizens from some African, Asian, Eastern Europe and Latin America countries may require visas. Visas are given by Costa Rican Consulates.
As of year 2007, the Costa Rican Health Ministry requires tourists from geographic risk areas to take the Yellow Fever Vaccine at least 10 days prior to arrival to Costa Rica. Please check with your country authorities to know if this requirement applies to you.
Travel Insurance
Valle Dorado very strongly recommends purchasing travel insurance. Transportation, tours and lodging for your Costa Rica vacation can be easily cancelled, but you may lose some or all your vacation money according to companies cancellation policies.
We don’t have any control over these policies. They are set by every lodge, canopy tour, etc.
You will not receive money refund if you miss tours, transportation, lodging, etc. as a result of family problems, work, changing your mind, missed flights or others, unless you buy travel insurance.
Where to Buy Travel Insurance
Valle Dorado isn’t an insurance company, but we are happy to refer you to some independent providers. We do not receive commissions or any other kind of payment from travel insurance companies.
Some known travel insurance companies are Travel Guard and Acces America. You could also google “travel insurance” if you want to analyze more options. Costs and coverage vary according to company, age and other conditions.
How Valle Dorado Travel Agency Helps You
Valle Dorado Tours will refund your money when possible according to our payment policies. Refunds will depend mainly on days prior to arrival since cancelation date and tours, transportation and lodges involved in tour package. We really recommend purchasing at least basic cancellation travel insurance.
