Weather and location of Costa Rica

Costa Rica weather

One of tourist’s most common questions is: “What’s the weather like down there in Costa Rica?” Well, unlike other countries Costa Rica has only two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season goes from late November to mid April and the rainy season from May to mid November.

That said, because its location, Costa Rica has many microclimates and temperatures vary according to elevation, not according to season. Because of Costa Rica’s geography a little rain is very common every day during the dry season, so don’t get your hopes up if you visit our country during the dry season in order to avoid getting wet.

Last but not least, it never hurts to check with a weather channel or link of your preference before your travel. The map below shows the average yearly rainfall for every region in Costa Rica.

Valle Dorado recommends visiting our country no matter what season, rain or no rain, warm or cold, you will love our nice tropical weather.

Location

Costa Rica is located right in the middle of Central America, uniting North and South America. This geographical location makes it a country rich in culture. It limits to the Northeast with the Caribbean Sea, Southwest with the Pacific Ocean, Southeast with Panama and North with Nicaragua.

Its location in the tropic allows Costa Rica to have nice warm water on both shores, which makes it perfect to enjoy its white sand beaches and practice water sports.
