Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the smallest protected areas in Costa Rica. It was first discovered by Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon in 1519. Manuel Antonio is located in the central pacific coast of Costa Rica. Spectacular white sand beaches next to scenic mountain beauty covered with green forest are Manuel Antonio’s main attraction. Little isles where sometimes dolphins and migrating whales can be seen embellish the sunset to the horizon.
Over 100 mammal species and 184 of different types of birds make it a perfect for nice nature trails with binoculars and camera at hand. Unlike other national parks, Manuel Antonio offers not just nature, but also beautiful white sand beaches to relax, take a walk, surf, get a tan, snorkeling, etc.
Keep in mind all National Parks close one day a week for maintenance purposes. Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.
