The Tortuguero National Park is located in Limon on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. It is one of Costa Rica’s most visited natural areas for its great biodiversity.
In its origins the protected area was a set of little volcanic islands, but sediments filled the spaces and it became a network of marshy islands. Beaches, canals and lagoons of Tortuguero are home for a vast biodiversity which attracts all kinds of tourists.
Take a boat tour through Tortuguero canals, which are home for seven different species of river turtles, crocodiles and caimans, among other species. Or simply walk along the beach looking for turtles leaving eggs.
Over 50 species of amphibians, 100 species of reptiles, 300 species of birds and 60 species of mammals. If you enjoy nature, Tortuguero is your perfect get away. Hiking or on a boat you will see lots of wildlife and nature.
